    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Responsible for leading and driving continuous improvement activities using lean manufacturing principles in support of meeting financial, business and leadership development goals.  These activities will vary from lean training, leading kaizen events, executing valuestream processes, and project management.   This position has responsibility for training, executing, and measuring the lean strategy at the Fort Worth Facilities.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to: 

    • Drive and execute lean initiatives across the entire organization including valuestream processes, kaizen events, TPM, 5S, visual factory, SMED, Kanban, and other lean tools and principles 
    • Drive process improvement efforts through Kaizen activities, Valuestream Mapping, SMED and Six Sigma projects in an effort to impact the customer and business metrics
    • Assist in project identification/ selection, assuring linkage between projects and business and customer priorities
    • Implement pull processes between manufacturing processes, distribution and the supply chain.  Ensure sustainability and improvement to inventory turns
    • Train and coach process owners, process improvement leaders, and project teams in the use of improvement tools and methodology to ensure timely completion of projects.  Ensure basic Weir Production System Knowledge of all employees
    • Acts as change agent to instill Lean culture throughout the organization
    • Create processes and metrics to track the performance of lean activities and ensure sustainability 
    • Support projects such as reducing operating costs through cost reduction, improved process control, machine reliability, machine set-up times and introducing new products and processes
    • Identify gaps in performance against Best in Class and lead improvement initiatives that close said gaps as it relates to service level performance, inventory turns improvement, and labor productivity results

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Education & Experience:

    Bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.


    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Computer Skills:

    The incumbent should have knowledge of the following software: Excel, MS Word, and Powerpoint.  ERP and Project Management software experience a benefit.

    Work Environment:

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs. This position may require up to 20% travel.
