Business Need / Purpose of Role

Under the direction of the Quality Supervisor or Manager, the NDT Level III is responsible for the oversight of the company NDT program in accordance with customer, industry and regulatory requirements. The NDT Level III trains, examines and certifies NDT personnel. The NDT Level III is also responsible for the development of new inspection techniques and the selection of appropriate nondestructive testing equipment.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities


  • Act as the company's responsible NDT Level III
  • Provide technician training and certification in MT and UT methods in manufacturing and service locations across the US and Canada
  • Develop, administer and evaluate technician examinations
  • Develop, revise and approve written practice, procedures and instructions in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ASTM E709 and ASTM E1444
  • Interpret customer specifications and industry, national and international standards
  • Perform NDT program compliance audits
  • Aid in the selection of NDT Level III contractors in international locations including South America, Europe, Middle East and Asia.



  • Ensure company NDT program is in full compliance with the latest standards and customer requirements
  • Develop written practice and training to implement VT and LT disciplines
  • Maintain technician certifications to ensure no lapses in coverage
  • Become familiar with customer NDT requirements

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related technical field
  • 5+ years' experience as a responsible NDT Level III in MT and UT disciplines
  • Strong experience developing techniques and a demonstrated ability to create written practices
  • Strong working knowledge of wet and dry bench, yoke, portable coil and cable wrap MT techniques using fluorescent and visible particles
  • Working knowledge of digital thickness UT techniques


Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills:

Computer literate within a Windows environment and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Powerpoint).


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • ASNT ACCP Level III certification in MT and UT required
  • ASNT ACCP Level III certification in VT strongly preferred
  • ASNT ACCP Level III certification in PT and RT a plus


Physical Demands:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Travel will be 75% +


Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Personal protective equipment is required in certain areas of the facility.

Regional Specific Job Information (if applicable)

This position is based in Fort Worth, Texas, but requires up to 75% travel within the US and Canada. Occasional travel to other countries may also be required.
