Business Need / Purpose of Role

Supervises workers engaged in refurbishment of service iron and flow control components, pump power units and auxiliary equipment.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • Plans and monitors shop floor operations to ensure tasks are being performed safely
  • Manages shop operations in accordance with Weir SPM documented procedures, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure all products and services meet customer demands
  • Develops daily production plan to ensure output targets are achieved and customer deadlines are met
  • Interface with customers on a daily basis to receive and deliver customer assets, detail local customers deadlines, and interpret customer requests
  • Works with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in area
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints and job orders to workers, and assign duties
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop departments, or work crew
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
  • Initiates or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals
  • Maintains time and production records
  • Sets up machinery and dismantles pumps, engines and other machinery when necessary
  • Performs activities of workers supervised when necessary

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Supervises and directs up to 14 employees in the Service Center Location. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibility includes training employees, conducting performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and employee counseling.

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience   Bachelor's degree with two years related experience; associate’s degree with four years related experience; or high school diploma with ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to use and apply manufacturing geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of manufacturing and inventory software; internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software. The ideal candidate will have some proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, & Power Point), as well as some experience in Syteline or other ERP Solutions.

Manufacturing / Service area with high-speed machinery, welding equipment, coolants, some area of high noise levels. Must be able to wear steel-toed shoes, safety glasses and any other required proper protective equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
