Business Need / Purpose of Role

Assembly and test high pressure wellhead and service equipment with low to medium complexity for offshore and land based customers.  Continue to train in shop and gain knowledge of Weir Seaboard equipment and practices for advancement to Service Tech I position. 

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner and help keep fellow employees aware of any dangers in the work area. Work as instructed on equipment as directed by the Supervisor
  • Assist in all facets of equipment maintenance, preparation, testing and appearance
  • Keep working area and facility as a whole in an organized and neat (as possible) condition
  • Know equipment description and functionality
  • Know equipment tear down, clean, rebuild and pant process and procedures
  • Complete additional training necessary to perform a quality job in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
  • Assemble and test assemblies per Weir Seaboard specifications
  • Complete required documentation including test reports, failed test reports, work order parts and routing
  • Learn equipment and procedures safely to prepare for next level
  • Other duties as defined by Supervisor

 

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:                                                    

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with one to three years related experience.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, write, and speak in the English language. 

 

Mathematical Skills:                                               

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

Reasoning Ability:                                             

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.  Bill of Material (BOM) interpretation and the ability to read machine detail drawings a plus.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:                                                 

Must have mechanical aptitude. Ability to operate high pressure torque wrenches, hammer wrench, jib cranes, overhead cranes, forklift and be able to do rigging work in a safe manner.  Must be able to use power tools, hand tools, swing sledge hammer and measuring devices such as micrometers, tape measure, rulers, scale and pressure gauges with chart recorder.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and inclement weather conditions.  High noise level shop environment. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including steel toed safety shoes and safety glasses, in all areas of the facility.  May work with chemicals and high pressure equipment.
