Business Need / Purpose of Role

Perform duties required for receiving, storing, and distributing material, tools, equipment, and products within the facility.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • Loads and unloads product to and from delivery vehicles and designated storage areas
  • Reads customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving or kitting areas to storage or other designated areas
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence, such as: size, type, style, or product code
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department
  • Marks materials with identifying information
  • Opens crates and other containers
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed
  • Weighs or counts items for distribution to ensure conformance to company standards
  • Prepares parcels for shipment
  • Participates in inventory, preparation and counting
  • Cleans warehouse area

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

 

Education and/or Experience:
2-3 years plus High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency. DHL, UPS, FEDEX experience, RF scanner experience, experience with at minimum 2 pieces of material handling equipment. Demonstrated ability to comprehend simple instructions, communicate orally or in written form effectively.

 

 

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

 

Mathematical:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skill:
WMS, AS400 or SAP basic system skills.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The employee is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and can be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold including climates consistent with outside weather conditions.
