Business Need / Purpose of Role

Responsible for entering, preparing and analyzing accounting transactions and financial information to ensure it is in accordance with IFRS/Company requirements. Actively involved in the accounting month-end close process and activities leading up to month-end close.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities


  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions
  • Key player on the Oil & Gas Shared Services Accounting Team, responsible for analyzing accounting transactions for multiple operating companies within the Oil & Gas Division
  • Utilizes business knowledge of accounting processes to recommend process improvements
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Prepares monthly reconciliations and documents/analyzes reconciling items for balance sheet accounts
  • Collaborates with other teams within the Oil & Gas Shared Services Accounting Department as well as within various operating companies to resolve monthly reconciling items
  • Ensures all financial transactions are in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Assists General Accounting Supervisor with ad hoc projects as needed
  • Actively involved in the inter-intracompany accounting process
  • Responsible for working with both external and internal auditors to understand business processes as well as preparing various audit requests



Key accountabilities will be on annual and mid-year review

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: :  Bachelor's degree with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Mathematical: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills: Strong Excel, Microsoft software


Physical Demands: The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.


Work Environment: Moderate (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
