Business Need / Purpose of Role

Responsible for managing all activities and personnel in the warehouse. Ensures quality and delivery requirements are met. Ensures compliance of safety rules as well as company policies and practices.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • Ensure absolute safety of all staff through upholding guidelines and rules, providing appropriate training and conducting frequent compliance audits
  • Maintain standards of hygiene and security in the work environment
  • Supervises warehouse personnel through leads - up to 20 personnel Accurate, timely and efficient supervision of business critical tasks:
  • Conduct cycle counting process and annual physical inventory event
  • Perform tasks as required in order to ensure delivery schedules are aligned with supply chain, engineering, manufacturing and quality expectations.
  • Ensure proper storage practices are followed and implemented in accordance with Weir Standard Operating Procedures and API regulations
  • Implement plans to enhance Warehouse to world class standards (lead times, people utilization, quality metrics, FIFO, order fill-rate, order fill time, 5S, etc.)
  • Document and continuously improve departmental processes  - adopt best practices and develop a continuous improvement approach to warehouse operations  
  • Monitor appropriate key performance indicators (KPIs) and productivity targets for Warehouse personnel
  • Ensure department accuracy, timeliness, quality assurance and efficient leadership with the storage of parts, pulling for order filling, internal transport of parts and materials and packaging and appropriate product identification
  • Coach develop and appraise performance of direct reports
  • Recruitment and training of “Warehouse” staff
  • Assist QC to train personnel on proper Weir Standard Operating Procedures and API regulations
  • Operate tier lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey or hoist to and from work area and test areas as required
  • This position supervises up to 40 personnel through 2-5 direct reports, team leads

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications


High school diploma or general degree (GED) and 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training.



Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills:

Literate in the use of standard Microsoft Office packages and internal production system, MFG and Reportwriter


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work outside for short periods of time and is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be significant, as expected in a heavy industry manufacturing facility. Personal protective equipment is required in certain areas of the facility.  While performing duties this job may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures.
