Business Need / Purpose of Role

The Quotation Specialist is responsible for preparation of cost estimate requests.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to:

  • Prepare cost estimates of materials requested by Sales, Customer Service Representatives, Stock Maintenance, and appropriate management
  • Compile bill of materials, utilizing knowledge of products to be manufactured
  • Itemize tools, fixtures, or equipment to be manufactured by company or purchased from outside source
  • Contact manufacturers, factories, and representative to obtain best-cost information when necessary
  • Compute Cost estimates for materials, price escalation, and abnormal freight charges
  • Compare manufacture’s bill of material to determine and differences for complete comparisons
  • Correlate all cost information within time frame of bid date and time needed by contractors, sales personnel, and appropriate management
  • Assist others in Quotation Department price quoting
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, and individual should be able to effectively demonstrate use of Microsoft Office Suite (must be proficient in Excel) and Lotus Notes or equivalent software. Position requires use of order processing systems.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:
Exceptional interpersonal skills are critical. Self-starter, able to work cross-functional terms. Strong time management skills that require little supervision. Ability to prioritize workload to meet changing business needs. Individual should have the ability to adapt and work effectively with variety of situations and personalities. Must be able to maintain integrity, confidentially and professional maturity.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work outside for short periods of time and is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be significant, as expected in a heavy industry manufacturing facility. Personal protective equipment is required in certain areas of the facility. While performing duties this job may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures.
