Business Need / Purpose of Role

Supervises workers engaged in layout and machine operating to produce parts for the oil and gas industry by performing the following duties.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to: 

  • Requisitions materials required to meet production goals
  • Examines items produced to determine if items meet specification
  • Studies production schedules and estimates hour requirements for completion of job assignment
  • Interprets company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints and job orders to workers, and assign duties
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Plans, organizes and schedules employees and proper machines and equipment to meet production and customer requirements
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop departments or work crew
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
  • Initiates or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records
  • Confers with others supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departs
  • Sets up machines and equipment when necessary
  • Performs activities of workers supervised when necessary
  • Includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement
  • Takes responsibility for subordinates' activities
  • Makes self available to staff
  • Provides regular performance feedback
  • Develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth
  • Solicits and applies customer feedback (internal and external)
  • Fosters quality focus in others

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications


Bachelor's degree with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of manufacturing and inventory software; Internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software.


Physical Requirements:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.


Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.
