Business Need / Purpose of Role

The purpose of the role of the Accountant position is to manage the Accounts Payable department function and supervise the Accounts Payable personnel. Assist with Cost Accounting department and maintain and make improvements to company A/P and Cost systems.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities


  • Manage and supervise A/P functions
  • Run, review, and approve A/P batches, weekly checks, and reports
  • Review and approve monthly A/P journal entries
  • Coordinate 1099 reporting and file year-end reports
  • Coordinate accounting for company credit cards and travel accounts
  • Manage petty cash account
  • Daily maintenance of standard costs
  • Monthly cost accounting journal entries
  • Complete monthly financial schedules
  • Compile and report on cycle count results – weekly
  • Monthly account reconciliations as assigned
  • Assist in annual recost and other projects as required
  • Other responsibilities as determined
  • Ensure the implementation of the Company EHS Policy for the prevention of injury, damage or loss to Company personnel and resources and ensure that line management are fully aware of their accountability for the environment, health and safety of Company Employees and others who may be affected by Company activities
  • Ensure that employees are made aware of particular EHS hazards and the necessary preventative action to be taken.
  • Stop employees from taking unnecessary risks and stop any unsafe acts


  • Achieve annual Personal Business Objectives
  • Maintain and improve departmental systems and standards 
  • Maintain integrity of company resources and internal controls

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A/P experience
  • Experience with 1099 reporting
  • Accounting experience
  • Knowledge of cost accounting systems helpful

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.


Computer Skills:

Microsoft Office, ten-key ability, ERP system experience (syteline preferable)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work in high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions.  The noise level for the work environment is usually moderate.  OSHA 10 Hour Certification or other Safety Certification is a plus.
