    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Under the direction of the Finance Director, the Controller is responsible for the day to day operations of the Finance Department and ensuring that all financial activities are in line with company goals and objectives. Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of all financial data and for providing financial reports required by company management and regulatory and rating agencies in accordance with company policies and procedures.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Provide management with accurate and timely information necessary to make strategic, investment and operating decisions.


    Coordinate and process all monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings including the year-end audit and the preparation of internal financial statements of the company in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards and Group Financial Guidelines.


    Coordinate the preparation and review of information for internal and external audits and then provide to auditors.


    Coordinate the preparation and review of information for property tax and income tax returns.


    Develop and confer with direct reports to establish responsibilities and procedures for attaining objectives which contribute to improved cost, quality, and productivity.


    Document accounting policies and procedures.


    Maintain accounting ledgers, other financial reports and related and supporting detail or sub-ledger files and reports.


    Maintain correct and accurate accounting classification of all expenditures to ensure that inventory records and manufacturing costs are accurate.


    Maximize the efficiency of supervised accounting personnel by providing them with training, motivation, and direction, including specific goals and objective productivity targets.


    Keep abreast of current accounting trends and practices.


    Maintain general ledger chart of accounts and report formats.


    Complete special projects as assigned.


    Comply with all Finance Department and Company policies, procedures, and programs.


    Ensure the training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the organization’s standards for quality, quantity, and safety, consistent with the organization’s principles.


    Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations. Ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.


    Ensure organizational compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies. Promote affirmative action and equal employment opportunity.


    Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, ongoing improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.


    Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, team oriented, and customer focused attitude within and between departments.


    Responsible for Environmental Health and Safety management and policy commitments as prescribed for this role in Weir's Duty of Care.

    Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in finance/accounting required, CPA or Masters degree preferred. Five to ten years of progressive financial accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing company.


    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. . Ability to effectively present information to top management.



    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


    CPA or CMA preferred. Requires a valid driver’s license.


    Strong analytical skills. Excellent computer skills with ERP business systems and spreadsheets. Excellent organization, oral and written communication, motivation, human relations, records keeping, trouble shooting, problem-solving and follow-through skills. Ability to promote and maintain positive relationships. Good work ethic - proactive. Confidence in own abilities and capable of acting decisively. Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.     Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as computer and job related software (Microsoft Office & Lotus Notes), calculator, telephone, fax photocopier, etc.   Mid-range ERP system knowledge (MAPICS on IBM AS/400) preferred.
