    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, drives quality control operations for the plant and directs the EHS responsibilities to achieve goals that relate to Weir Deer Park plans and targets.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:

    • Develop and control Quality Control programs.
    • Monitor Production Department's conformance with QA standards and procedures. Conduct quality control training for employees engaged in material handling or product assembly. Suggest methods for improving product quality or design, or manufacturing processes.
    • Plan and directs the work of the Quality control department.
    • Review and resolve all warranty claims on company products. Analyze equipment failures or deficiencies to determine cause and establish responsibility.
    • Provide assistance to Marketing and Product Engineering in the utilization of product performance experience in the field.
    • Interface with Sales, Engineering and Production Staff to resolve chronic problems and to advise on potential problems.
    • Organize and maintain Quality and EHS department records.
    • Develop and implement a structure for warranty claims to include, review, trouble shooting and repair of equipment under warranty (both in and out of the facility).
    • Interpret regulations and standards (EHS & ISO); define & evaluate problems, collect data, draw conclusions, write reports and implement corrective actions as required.
    • Manage the Quality Team in data collection and analysis for material scrap and supplier performance, manufacturing yield and rework, and field failure.
    • Identify gaps in Quality Control procedures that describe ISO required processes and standards.
    • Manage multiple projects, assign and manage work activities, meet deadlines with management reporting.
    • Identify risk conditions and communicate issues and resolutions to management team.
    • Cooperate and Collaborate with Human Resources Department in all employee relations matters in accordance with policies and programs of the Company.
    • Observe all safety and ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2004 requirements.
    • Support and work with QA to ensure that all subordinates are trained in the Company’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program, are provided all necessary personal protective equipment and follow all safety requirements.
    • Ensure that all subordinates are familiar with and follow all ISO 9001 and 14001 procedures and appropriate documentation.
    • Oversee EHS program to comply with local, State and Federal Agencies and internal Weir requirements.
    • Oversee internal audits and participate in external Weir company audits.
    • Monthly reporting of all safety requirements including but not limited to statics, accidents, near hits.
    • Safety Committee Chairman; coordinate monthly safety meetings, safety kaizans and safety stand-down.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.




    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Minimum BA degree preferred (Business Management).
    • Minimum 3 years in Quality Control Work Flow process
    • Prefer experience in Environmental Health and Safety and/or experience in related field. 
    • Experience producing and delivering communications to the management team and summarizing results and producing management reports.
    • Excellent oral and written persuasive communication and presentation skills.
    • Proven track record of progressive accomplishment and growing a business.
    • Skilled in use of Power Point and Microsoft Office Professional.

    Ability to influence positive behaviors, good relationship with shop floor and leadership. Be an employee who is genuinely interested in the safety of himself and others. Preferably have some knowledge of EHSQ processes. The position will receive EHSQ champion training. Ability to interact with other employees directly, or in a group setting. Good personal record of attendance, behavior and productivity.


    Language Skills:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.



    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


    Computer Skills:

    The incumbent should have knowledge of the following software: Manufacturing software; Project Management, Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.


    Physical Demands:

    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.


    Work Environment:
    The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.
