    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Under the direction of the Finance Controller, the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager is responsible for the preparation of key financial reports, analysis of key financial data, and developing/implementing corrective actions to improve efficiency and profitability within the company.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but

    • Lead the preparation and evaluation of the annual budgets; quarterly forecast reports, monthly and mid-monthly reports in accordance with reporting timetables. This includes appropriate delegation of tasks to Finance team to gather budget and forecasting information from departments.      
    • Perform in depth analysis of variances between actual and budget / current forecast comparisons, including regular engagement with key business partners to determine root causes.
    • Summarize monthly results, through presentation to senior management, with support from finance team to investigate variances from forecast/ budget.
    • Direct the IT Department to create system reports (Cognos and Mapics) needed to achieve desired analyses.  
    • Work with Cost Accounting team in the analysis of manufacturing variances and with the relevant business areas to address recurring issues.
    • Monitor and forecast of working capital. Close liaison with key business partners (including operations, procurement, accounts receivable and accounts payable) to develop actions to manage working capital effectively and meet targets. Monitor the implementation of actions and recommend corrective actions where necessary.  
    • Support key business partners in financial analysis / modeling of the potential impact of changes e.g. product price changes, changes in commodity prices etc.
    • Complete general accounting responsibilities as assigned, such as balance sheet reconciliations.  
    • Preparation of responses to ad hoc financial analysis requests on a timely basis.  
    • Complete special projects as assigned.
    • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
    • Responsible for Environmental Health and Safety management and policy commitments as prescribed for this role in Weir's Duty of Care.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in finance/accounting. Seven plus years of progressive financial accounting experience in a public company, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

     

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    CPA or CMA preferred. Requires a valid driver’s license

    Strong analytical skills. Excellent computer skills with ERP business systems and Excel spreadsheets. Excellent organization, oral and written communication, motivation, human relations, records keeping, trouble shooting, problem-solving and follow-through skills. Effective presentation skills. Ability to promote and maintain positive relationships. Good work ethic - proactive. Confidence in own abilities and capable of acting decisively.     MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND WORK AIDS

    Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as computer and job related software (Microsoft Office & Lotus Notes), calculator, telephone, fax photocopier, etc.   Mid-range ERP system knowledge (MAPICS on IBM AS/400) preferred.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 10 pounds.
