    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Develops and produces designs with associated 3D models suitable for production. Creates 3D models and assemblies from sketches, drawings, and other sources.  Produces detailed reports of changes to Engineering documents for use in the production of parts and assemblies. Assists Engineering with design details to include some forms of analysis whether structural, kinematic, thermal, acoustic, fluid, etc.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to: 

    • Design new products that meet customer and internal safety, performance, certification, cost and timing objectives
    • Improve existing products by enhancing the product performance, or reducing the overall costs
    • Provide leadership and input to the cross-functional design review process to ensure optimum product designs are developed and executed
    • Use appropriate engineering tools to create, maintain and optimize 3-dimensional virtual component models
    • Use appropriate engineering tools to create, maintain and manage associated 2D drawings in accordance with engineering standards and procedures
    • Use appropriate engineering tools to create virtual 3-dimensional assemblies from component models
    • Use appropriate engineering tools to conduct tolerance stack analyses, Optional: high-level finite element and computational fluid dynamic analysis; animated simulation and basic post production; providing results, conclusions and proposed improvements to other engineering staff
    • Use appropriate engineering tools to some elementary software development capabilties; C++, Visual Basic, etc.
    • Lead appropriate technical communication with customers.
    • Present the status and plans of projects and concerns to internal teams and senior management as requested

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Education/Experience:
    Bachelor's or Master’s degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline with a minimum of 15 years experience in an engineering or technical role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work outside for short periods of time and is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be significant, as expected in a heavy industry manufacturing facility. Personal protective equipment is required in certain areas of the facility.
