  • Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Responsible for planning, allocating and moving orders in proper sequence through the Production system to satisfy customer delivery schedules.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:

    • Coordinates with sales, manufacturing and other departments to plan and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle
    • Maintains contact with manufacturing to develop schedule for machinery and manpower. Also monitors completion of parts, equipment and assemblies.  Tracks and traces inventory materials in process and finished goods
    • Expedites delays with other departments when required
    • Coordinates with purchasing to ensure on time delivery of material
    • Monitors vendors’ delivery schedule, expedites when necessary and resolves conflicts
    • Monitors production progress and revises planning when necessary due to unavailability of machinery, manpower shortages, delayed receipt of material, customer changes, etc
    • Attends production meetings and communicates planning and production changes to contracts, engineering, materials and other affected departments
    • Upon receipt of directive and authorization to purchase materials, seeks qualified vendor and negotiates best cost that complies with quality systems, production schedule and customer delivery date
    • Keeps current of changes in production requirements and in customer delivery needs and communicates changes to vendors as well as internal departments
    • Continuously monitors and evaluates vendors to ensure they are providing the best quality at competitive pricing and makes changes when necessary
    • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves problem areas of shortages, and delays.
    • Monitors cost of production products and cost of personnel. Advises manager of any discrepancies.
    • Complies with all Company policies, including safety and environmental procedures.
    • Completes other Company related duties as assigned

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications


    Bachelor's degree with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Preferred experience in with ASTM / ASME related products


    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


    Computer Skills:

    The incumbent should have knowledge of the following software: Familiar with ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Special Skills:

    APICS Certification or in process of receiving APICS certification preferred


    Work Environment:

    The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. In certain areas of the facility personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses and steel-toed shoes, and ear plugs.
