    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Under the direction of the Director of Supply Chain, the Supply Chain Leader is responsible overall performance of the supply chain for a dedicated Value Stream. This is a hybrid role where hands on transactions are expected in addition to providing leadership to the team. It is expected that this role will evolve into a Manager role within the next 12-18 months. The role will be perfect for a Buyer/Senior Buyer looking to make a transition into Supply Chain Leadership.

     

    Overall responsibilities will include, buying activities for a commodity subset and the leadership of the team to include supplier on time delivery, customer on time delivery, supplier cost reduction and cost avoidance, purchased inventory turns, supplier quality improvement, and management of the overall production plan to support and drive US Minerals customer and revenue goals.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    LEADERSHIP

    • Manage a team of buyers. Provide feedback, coaching, and guidance (where applicable) to support individual growth, development, and/ or performance improvement.
    • Develop, manager and revise the Master schedule working with sales and inventory planning.
    • Manage total procurement function performance to achieve identified goals & objectives.
    • Work closely with cross-functional management teams to execute team goals.
    • Manage and monitor key supply chain metrics, and imlpement corrective actions as require

    FUNCTIONAL

    For Value Stream / Set of Products: 

    • Drive and achieve total supplier on-time-delivery to >90%
    • Drive and achieve total customer on-time-delivery to meet market objectives
    • Manage expedite parts and MRP messages to meet customer on-time delivery performance
    • Reduce supplier lead time and simplify supply chain process
    • Ensure ERP system information accuracy on procured products and services through physical inventory, lead time, minimum buy quantity, and standard cost updates.
    • Negotiate and execute supplier agreements for identified suppliers. Manage supplier relationship and overall performance.
    • Monitor and manager work center capacity and respond with actions or recommendations as required
    • Identify supply risks and alternative supply plan through outsourcing and insorucing
    • Influence and manage cross-functional teams to drive supply chain process improvement.
    • Manage supply chain related new product introduction and drive/ support supplier selection process.
    • Manage total inventory and reduce total variances.
    • Reduce and monitor air freight charges via material planning.
    • Collaborate with group procurement function, region and inter companies when required..
    • Support external supplier audits/ assessment and internal procurement audits.
    • Comply with all Supply Chain Department and Company policies, procedures, and programs.
    • Some travel required.
    • Complete special projects as assigned.
    • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
    • Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, team oriented, and customer focused attitude within and between departments.
    • Responsible for Environmental Health and Safety management and policy commitments as prescribed for this role in Weir's Duty of Care.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Direct supervision of small and expanding group of supply chain staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

     

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Planning, Engineering, or Business.
    • Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing environment utilizing MRP
    • Good communication, leadership, negotiation, and analytical skills.
    • Strong business acumen, execution, and adaptability.
    • Results-oriented individual. Familiar with working in a manufacturing supply chain environment.
    • Good Project management skills
    • Good casting, machining, and/or fabrication background strongly desired.

     

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

     

    Mathematical:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Strong analytical and data management skills. Clear understanding of MRP, strategic sourcing and supply chain management. Computer literate. Good general accounting knowledge and ability to apply to practical situations. Proven negotiation skills. Ability to read and interpret blueprint specifications. Comprehensive organization, oral and written communication, motivation, human relations, records keeping, problem-solving and follow-through skills. Good work ethic - proactive. Confidence in own abilities and capable of acting decisively. Ability to project and maintain professionalism with a diversity of people inside and outside the Company. Ability to influence others.
