    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    The Private Cloud Engineer’s primary purpose is to design and build solutions utilizing on-premise compute, networking, and storage technologies. The Private Cloud Engineer leads the design and support of large-scale global projects. This role requires critical thinking and problem-solving skills in concert with the utilization of effective industry-tested tools to deliver exceptional value to Weir.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:


    • Serves as a virtualization lead specializing in VMware and Hyper-V solutions
    • Design, implement, and maintain VMware vSphere, vRealize Automation/Operations, and Hyper-V SCVMM environments
    • Strong familiarity with scripting; primarily PowerCLI and PowerShell
    • Prior experience as a Sr Engineer for medium to large IT projects
    • Strong ability to document completely and accurately at all levels of solution development and implementation
    • Strong understanding of Service Desk, Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration Management and Computer Operations IT disciplines
    • Results oriented, willing to take responsibility and accept accountability for action
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills
    • Comfortable with ambiguity as needs change on a regular basis
    • High degree of initiative and sense of urgency
    • Ability to work on multiple, simultaneous initiatives of which he/she will apply their applicable business, technical and system functionality background
    • Broad and in-depth understanding of Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems, including but not limited to Hyper-V, WSFC, CSV, ADFS, PKI, file server services, Active Directory, etc.

    • Reliability/Uptime of Weir Private Cloud
    • Increased Private Cloud Automation for Development Business Units

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications


    Bachelor degree preferred, 7 to 10 years of experience with virtualization ideally in a highly virtualized enterprise solutions and large IT programs. 



    Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
