    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Sr. Storage Engineer will be responsible for management of storage solutions for all storage services including storage arrays, replication appliances, fiber channel switches, and replication software. In addition to architecting, planning, and implementing business continuity procedures.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Objectives:

    • Solves storage performance issues and handles requests
    • Provide guidance to junior storage administrators
    • Coordinates upgrade and maintenance activities
    • Work with vendors to ensure environment is properly implemented, configured, managed and maintained
    • Ensure all aspects of storage and associated systems are monitored
    • Create in-depth capacity, performance, and disaster recovery reports
    • Works with multiple teams (DBA, Servers, Networks, and applications) and Project Managers to deliver storage solutions
    • Fine tunes and creates procedures that can be handed down to operational team members as well as create and modify procedures for change control items
    • Automate tasks and processes
    • Develop capacity planning methodologies for future growth and initiatives
    • On-call and after-hours support
    • Implement robust monitoring
    • Commvault backup software architecture, planning, and implementation at the enterprise level

     

    Measurements:

    • Enable robust private cloud data center to data center storage performance, replication, and disaster recovery
    • Provide a high performing and stable SAN
    • Architect, implement, and maintain an enterprise Commvault environment
    • Play a key role in OpCo adoption of Group IT resources

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Education/Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree preferred, with 6 or more years of experience in managing IT solutions and large IT programs. Experienced with agile implementation & water fall methodology

    • Ability to communicate complex tasks and ideas in clear easy to understand language
    • Expert knowledge of storage deployment and configuration management
    • Must be highly motivated with good interpersonal skills and excellent technical skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced global environment
    • Expert technical knowledge of Brocade Fiber Channel switches. Administration with both GUI and CLI
    • Expert knowledge of fibre channel and network cable types
    • Expert knowledge of Dell Compellent, Isilon, along with VMware VSAN and various hyperconverged solutions
    • Expert knowledge of NetApp storage with Snap Mirror, CIFS, NFS and PCP protocols
    • Expert knowledge of various operating systems as it relates to fiber channel connected LUNs, primarily Microsoft Windows Server systems
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of business users in a professional manner
    • Ability to perform after-hours tasks
    • Works independently and in a geographically dispersed team environment
    • Strong knowledge of Commvault architecture and backup/DR solutions

     Language:

    Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
