    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant by performing the following duties.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to: 

    • Establishes best manufacturing processes and trains key shop personnel in those processes 
    • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods 
    • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow; designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency 
    • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods 
    • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications; arranges for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts; evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards 
    • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions 
    • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes 
    • Applies statistical methods to estimates future manufacturing requirements and potential 
    • Establishes and maintains Lean practices, including continuous improvement projects

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Education/Experience:
    Bachelor's degree (B. S.) with two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (seven or more years equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment).
     
    Language:
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
     
    Mathematical Skills:
    Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
     
    Other Skills/Abilities:
    Machining experience will be essential for this position, particularly in the area of setup reduction.
     
    Reasoning Ability:
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
     
    Computer Skills:
    The incumbent should have knowledge of the following software: Database software; Development software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
