    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Creates, reviews and manages projects and release of work orders in the manufacturing operating system; making corrections and coordinating changes as necessary.  Manages work order progress and completion, coordinating with other departments as required to ensure due are met.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:

     

    • Reviews MRP report daily and acts on exceptions (evaluation of Make/Buy decision, work order creation, substitutions, etc.) to guarantee on-time-delivery
    • Laisses and coordinates with Sourcing, Receiving, Inspection, Machine Shop, Assembly, Outside Process Manufacturing, Warehouse, Scheduling, Engineering, Quality and Production Control Coordinator on all aspects of the Work Order execution process
    • Ensures on time delivery of purchased items in coordination with Supply Chain to avoid production line stoppages and schedule disruptions
    • Manages work order progress contacting other departments when rescheduling is required to ensure Job orders On Time Completion and Transfer Orders On Time Delivery to districts
    • Manage work order completion, including aged and excess work orders
    • Advanced Planning System software super user/technical expert: ensures input data is always accurate, maintains current reports and develops/programs new reports as needed
    • Identifies opportunities in relation to the Excess & Obsolete inventory application
    • Provides quality internal and external customer service in accordance with Weir Pressure Control's values
    • Provides administrative support as needed, maintaining accurate files and records
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Education/Experience:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

     

    Language:

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

     

    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

     

    Computer Skills:

    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with Advanced MS Excel Skills required.


    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

     

    Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work outside for short periods of time and is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be significant, as expected in a heavy industry manufacturing facility. Personal protective equipment is required in certain areas of the facility.  While performing duties this job may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures.
