    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site by performing the following duties.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:

    • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved

    • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or with use of crane
    • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area
    • Pulls material according to packing list and records all pertinent information (s/n, heat number, etc.)
    • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, equipment, or other containers
    • Loads and unloads truck for Industrial Truck Operator
    • Loads pallets with material in preparation for shipment or additional processing
    • Assembles crates to contain products for storage or shipment
    • Operates industrial (forklift) truck (stand up and traditional) or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products to warehouse and machines
    • Performs minor preventative maintenance on forklifts (check fluid levels, lights, horns, etc.)
    • Maintains upkeep of facility including but not limited to empting trash bins and sweeping shop/yard floor where needed
    • Ensures part counts and locations are accurate
    • Performs material transactions in MRB system on computer
    • Develops a culture that works to achieve and maintain an accident free workplace
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications


    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with a minimum of one years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.



    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


    Mathematical Skills:

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software. 


    Certifications, Licenses, Registrations, Special Skills:

    Must be able to become forklift certified within 30 days. Must be able to effectively operate hand-held scanner (inventory transaction device) within 30 days. Ability to use identification tools (engraver, metal stamps, paint pen) to mark product. Ability to read and interpret dimensional drawings.


    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.


    Work Environment:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work outside for short periods of time and is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be significant, as expected in a heavy industry manufacturing facility. Personal protective equipment is required in certain areas of the facility.  While performing duties this job may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures.
