The Field Service Technician Trainee is new to Weir Oil & Gas and new to a technician role, with limited knowledge or experience. This position is expected to assist Field Service Technicians while learning to deliver, install, troubleshoot, test and repair pressure control equipment on customer location.
Including but not limited to:
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED; one year oil and gas field service experience and/or training; demonstration of strong mechanical aptitude
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Basic computer skills; ability to use Blackbook technology to complete customer order tickets
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must have mechanical aptitude. Ability to operate high pressure torque wrenches, hammer wrench, jib cranes, overhead cranes, forklift and be able to do rigging work in a safe manner. Must be able to use power tools, hand tools, swing sledge hammer and measuring devices such as micrometers, tape measure, rulers, scale and pressure gauges with chart recorder.
