    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Reporting to Engineering Manager, main emphasis will be on supporting existing and future international projects.      


    Ideal candidate will have the following:

    • Fluency in both Chinese Mandarin and English Languages.
    • Experience in communicating technically with international customers, primarily Chinese.
    • Previous experience in the commercial nuclear power industry, ideally in a third tier supplier environment.

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:

    • Essential/Critical Functions (not prioritized):

      • Establish project documentation and correspondence system, based upon engineering department practices and requirements.
      • Assist engineering team in logging and tracking project correspondence
      • Assist engineering team to assure timely response to technical queries and deviation requests.
      • Assist engineering team to take and distribute minutes from customer and project meetings with international customer
      • Provide translation services for critical documents
      • Coordinate international (primarily Chinese) meetings both remotely and on-site
      • Support direct customer visits for both active and future opportunities, with translation and administrative support.


      Essential Functions – Ongoing:

      • Fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese Languages
      • Promote Hiller’s core objectives for a fair and equitable work place, profitability, core company standards and ethics
      • Familiarity with nuclear safety culture and engineered products
      • Experience and knowledge of cultural differences and ability to communicate and translate effectively in these situations(Primarily USA-China).
      • Communicate consistently with both Hiller and customer personnel
      • When requested, represent Hiller at Nuclear Industry forums, and customer meetings both domestically and abroad - travel (20-30%)
      • Perform all work in accordance with assigned due dates
      • Participate as required in transmittals to internal and external customers
      • Participate as assigned in production, design review, customer and other project related meetings
      • Maintain detailed records of all interactions with customers.


      Essential Function – Daily:

      • Work closely with a diverse group of engineers, designers, technicians, purchasing and project management personnel; 
      • Continually assist in communications with international customers(Primarily China);
      • Work to ensure external customer and internal customer deliverables and support are achieved;


      Essential Function – Weekly:

      • Coordinate and provide interpretation for international customer update meetings (Primarily China)


    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Qualifications/Experience/Skills & Competencies:

    • 2 years’ experience working in an engineering company
    • 2 years’ project or administrative support
    • Prior experience in the commercial nuclear power industry preferred
    • Ability to accurately translate detailed technical information from English to Mandarin Chinese in both written and verbal format.
    • High level of competency in MS Office applications
    • Self-starter with minimum supervision
    • Ability to work well under a compressed schedule.
    • Excellent written and communication skills


    Work Environment: This position works primarily in an office setting with moderate to light noise.


    Physical Activity – this position requires the following activities at minimum:


    Daily or Weekly basis:

    • Standing, walking, and/or sitting for communication, site visits and office environment
    • Speaking, hearing, seeing, depth perception, color vision for communication
    • Repetitive motion for computer and desk work


    5 – 15 Times per year:

    • Ability to travel for customer and site visits.


    Autonomy and Authority:

    • Details of accomplishing the objective are left up to this position. 
    • This position has high accountability for some operational or human resource activities. 
    • This position performs autonomously and this work affects business operations.
    • This position’s duties involve the comparison and evaluation of possible courses of engineering conduct and acting or making a decision after the various possibilities have been considered.
    • Technical problems beyond personal capability are to be discussed with supervisory personnel
    • Priorities and goals will be established by supervisory personnel
