    Business Need / Purpose of Role

    Reporting to Engineering Manager, main emphasis will be product development and design for the Nuclear Power Industry. Ideal candidate will have the following:

    • Experience in taking products from initial concept through development to production ready.
    • Experience in communicating technically with international customers

    Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

    Including but not limited to:

    • Understanding of MRP systems, BOM structures
    • Conduct project management activities such as communicating with principle investigators, resource managers, project engineers, technical tradesmen, etc. in order to track project cost and schedule milestones, maintain quality assurance processes, and keep the focus on delivering project commitments.
    • Experience in identifying project deliverable priorities and establishing accountability within an engineering team for those deliverables.
    • Coordinate, resolve, or assist in resolution of conflicts and other issues within and between project and program teams and recommend/provide solutions
    • Coordinate customer interactions to derive necessary technical details
    • Relationship builder; excel at collaborating with customers, vendors and diverse internal personnel to meet or exceed design, quality, timeline and budget expectations.
    • Make effective presentations in oral and written form and to communicate complex issues
    • Read, understand, and interpret complex technical documentation and drawings.
    • Develop realistic expectations for project costs and completion dates.


    Essential Functions – Ongoing:

    • Promote Hiller’s core objectives for a fair and equitable work place, profitability, core company standards and ethics;
    • Contribute to streamlining the engineering process while working within the confines of Hiller engineering practice and Quality Assurance Program;
    • Communicate consistently with both Hiller and customer personnel;
    • Assist when requested in the design and implementation of continuous improvement objectives
    • Read customer specifications and translate into design and/ or QA requirements on a project basis
    • Ensure and Monitor all work is performed in accordance with assigned due dates
    • Be flexible to schedule revisions from all interfacing departments an addition to the customer
    • Coordinate transmittals to external customers
    • Participate as assigned in production, design review, customer and other project related meetings;
    • Travel to support customer meetings when required both international and domestic (5-15%)


    Essential Function – Daily:

    • Work closely with a diverse group of engineers, designers, technicians, purchasing and project management personnel
    • Work to ensure external customer and internal customer deliverables and support are achieved


    Essential Function – Weekly:

    • Work with Inventory control and purchasing functions

    Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience:

      • 4 year Bachelor’s degree
      • 5-10 years related
      • High level of competency in MS Office applications
      • Self-starter with minimum supervision
      • Ability to work well under a compressed schedule.


      Work Environment: This position works primarily in an office setting with moderate to light noise.


      Physical Activity – this position requires the following activities at minimum:

      • Daily or Weekly basis:
      • Standing, walking, and/or sitting for communication, site visits and office environment
      • Speaking, hearing, seeing, depth perception, color vision for communication
      • Repetitive motion for computer and desk work


      Autonomy and Authority:

      • This job objective is defined but the “how” is defined by both the Hiller and customer’s operating policies and procedures. 
      • Details of accomplishing the objective are left up to this position. 
      • This position has high accountability for some operational or human resource activities. 
      • This position has the authority to recommend, formulate, affect or interpret design practices. 
      • This position performs autonomously and this work affects business operations.
      • Work will be assigned by supervisory personnel;
      • Engineering problems beyond personal capability are to be discussed with supervisory personnel
      • Priorities and goals will be established by supervisory personnel;
      • Design work done must comply with good nuclear practice and Hiller’s QA program;
